One of the main reasons I built this site was to test out Joomla.  I am not a programmer but the evolution of opensource in general and CMS systems in particular are leading to systems which are very sophisticatedx and yet simple to deploy (even for an idiot VC like me).  So, unfortunately, this is my test site which I managaged to break several times while testing different components.   Joomla, the directory plugin, and smf forums are very mature but don't plug together easily.  Community Builder combined with some other plugins are working on another site I'm testing.  On that site a single registration does work but I can't get it to work on this site.  Quel dommage!

However, if this site proves useful to others, I promise to rebuild it to fix the requirement for registering twice.

There is no need to register more then once now.

Site registration comes across for directory and forum users also.

Guys,

Single sign on is a must for anysite

From the last Yeti topic, it seems that he did the bridge however if you register first on the forum, your profile is not beeing taken to Joomla.

There is an excellent bridge to take you from Joomla to SMF ... and it is CB compatible... You should not have any issue with Single Sign on... have a look on the SMF website for bridges and read the docs :-)
In any case, if you want something simpler to manage (do you really need the whole of the SMF functionalities) that is integrated to Joomla why not go for Joomlaboard, no need to create a bridge, you can us CB logins and it has a discuss bot which allows you to link your Joomla articles to forum posts... OK it's not the pretties of things but it works well...(of you know a little CSS, you can make a it OK looking)

I can assist you with this if you are really struggling...

Cheers
Jonathan
